2 Timothy 1:7

just some random pictures for you!
this past week we had class, Christian Worldview, with Cal MacFarlane!
I really enjoyed this course and was able to take a lot away after this week. we had gym night on monday and played basketball and soccer which was fun! on thursday evening we had a Jewish Passover ceremony which was really neat. we had unleaven bread, lamb, veggies and potatoes and fruit salad as well as other traditional food. mark proposed to emma! but it was an april fools day joke of course. haha some people thought it was real! friday was really rainy and windy and we were planning a hike up through the woods to a cross on the mountain near the camp but we ended up not going and had a chapel instead and talked about Jesus being put on the cross. we spent time in prayer before going back to class. the power then went out for several hours and we wrote our exam in the afternoon. that night a few of us went into town for dinner and then came back to go to Jim and Sarah's house to spend time in fellowship playing games and having a snack. on the drive back to camp we spontaneously decided we would go into town and we ended up going to walmart! we had a really fun time, good conversations and prayer time. :)
saturday evening we watched the Passion of the Christ which was a really powerful movie. sunday morning there was a lot of people at church and we had a wonderful Easter service! trent's car broke down so we got a ride with a family who lives fairly close to us. on the way home they invited us over for lunch and they had an easter egg hunt outside with hardboiled eggs for their kids! it was such a wonderful day and reminded me of home. today i spent most of the day playing ball hockey and spent some time in the prayer room. i am so thankful for this Easter weekend and that HE IS RISEN!
i hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend and were blessed as much as i was.
this week we are having another 24/7 week of prayer and we are also going kayaking in different groups on tuesday and wednesday! (i have decided to go on the calm ride.) the water will be just above freezing but we will have dry suits!

1 Corinthians 13:2

this past week was our surf trip to tofino!
it was so amazing, but it seemed to go by really fast. i cant believe it's almost april! we left tuesday morning and stopped at Coombs and Cathedral Grove as well as a nice waterfall! (same route as last surf trip) once we got to Ucluelet where we were staying in a church we had the afternoon free to roam around town which was exciting. that night we had chapel and the next morning we drove a half hour to tofino to pick up the surf boards and head to the beach! it was a sunny day with nice waves. i had a lot of fun! we then had chapel again on the second night with some local youth and we got to tell them about kaleo and pray for them and their towns of Ucluelet and Tofino. a few people, myself included went surfing again for a second time on thursday which was gross putting on a wet wetsuit but it was still a lot of fun! Jim showed me some tips which i was really thankful that he took the time to do and was able to ride some waves. i never got to standing up on the board but was able to squat so that was still fun :) it was raining that day and after lunch we cleaned up and headed back across the island for Crofton! it was a good trip and i really enjoyed the fellowship with others as well as spending some time with God. friday was a busy day as michelle and chantelle from briercrest came to interview us about our decisions after kaleo and pray for us. we had chapel and then later that day was the juniors retreat so we had a meeting with all the staff at 3:30pm. as my ministry opportunity i was counselling this weekend with Anna who i was so thankful for. we had 7 girls altogether ranging in ages from 9-11. Their names were Mikayla, Nova, Alex, Mercedes, Julia, Sarah, and Darien. It was a jam packed weekend but was also really fun! we played games, went to Q-town for speaking/chapel, and had cabin discussions and prayer times. also on saturday the kidds had many options of what they wanted to do and one of those was the challenge course! i was helping out there for a couple hours getting kids in their harnesses and making sure their helmets fit properly. it was fun working with Tim, Jess, Dave, and Phil! the kids had a lot of fun and left sunday after lunch.
this week we have our last class with Cal MacFarlane and its called Christian Worldview. I really enjoyed what we learned in class today and look forward to the rest of the week!

Psalm 62:6

Hello everyone! :)

This past week was reading break...what a week of learning! and lots of homework to do! On monday afternoon, we had a debriefing of our trips- both the Mexico and Olympic teams... we shared pictures and stories from our experiences. Wednesday our theology paper was due and i wrote on the inerrancy of the Bible! i learned a lot from researching this topic and using Biblical passages to prove my point. there was a guest group here on from friday-sunday and i helped with dishes on saturday morning. saturday afternoon i got to spend the day with Emma, Kim(ems mom), and Marissa! we went into Duncan for lunch and some shopping which was really fun... it was nice to have a day of not so much stress! on sunday, Trent and i did a presentation for our church about our experiences at the Olympics which went well! and i am teaching sunday school next week!
these past couple days i've been learning how to rely on God and trust in him and it has been amazing! God has placed a couple verses on my heart that i will share with you! Psalm 119:32 'i run in the path of your commands for you have set my heart free' and Psalm 5:11 '...let all those rejoice who put their trust in You..."
on sunday we also had a lot of pre-course work due for Gospels! Wes Olmstead is for the week and is teaching us about the Gospels. i am enjoying the course so far and love learning. Today i started my chemistry course that i am taking online and tonight we played soccer which was really fun! :)
today i also found out that i might have a job again at Subway for the summer and fall which i am so excited about! (thank you so much Sarah!!)

inspiration!?

here is an update of pictures from the last few weeks!
miss everyone <3
2 Corinthians 4
Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,"made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken."With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God. Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Galatians 5:13

this week has flown by! where does the time go?
seems like i just wrote a blog. haha
but yessss, this past week has been busy! i was volunteering for 7 days in a row and have been so thankful for all that God has revealed to me through this amazing opportunity. i have had many conversations this past week and have been spending a lot of time in prayer for the people i meet and our teams. i have been reminded that God is in control and that i need to trust that he is working through us even though i may not see the fruits of our labour right away. this was an update that Trent and i sent to our church back in Duncan that you may enjoy reading!

"We have been able to see many cool things here at the Olympics. Many of us have had the chance to meet athletes, and other VIP's. We have been able to develop relationships with the staff because we see them every now and then despite the fact that we are assigned to a different team everyday. Even if we have not met them before, chances are high that they have already met another Kaleo student and they somehow know everything about us. We have heard reports about how high-spirited we are and how much joy we have. People really notice that there is something different about us! Many of us have had sweet conversations with non-believers. But we are not satisfied with this. We want to take it to the next level. As we are nearing the halfway mark of this trip, we have decided to finish the other half stronger than the first. We admit, we have been gradually losing focus and have been satisfied with mediocrity. Yes, there are cool things happening but we are losing our thunder. Many of us are tired and our shifts are more like work shifts, we want to go home after the day's work. This is not how it should be at all! We should be making efforts to stay as long as possible with the other volunteers and staff. We should be taking steps of faith by sacrificing our needs for our ministry but we aren't. The opportunities are there but we are either reluctant to pursue them or we are too distracted or tired to see them. Both Jenna and I have been struggling with pushing our comfort zones to that last level and trusting God with our physical needs. We both agree that there is room for improvement in our prayer lives and our devotions."

thank you so much for all your prayers! your involvement is a vital part of our ministry here at the olympics. we could not be doing this without you!

today i had the day off and went for a hike up the Chief here in squamish with part of the WSC crew and Jim. we spent approx 5 hours on this second largest granite monolith in the world. there are three different peaks, the highest being 702m. we went to all three and it was a gorgeous day! it was so amazing looking out over squamish and at the ocean and mountains and all of God's creation. i will add pictures later when i have time to upload them :)

hope you all had a wonderful week and praying that God bless you this coming week!
thanks again for reading my blog :)
miss everyone!
love always <3

PR: Please pray for focus, for discipline, diligence, faith that God will cover the needs of our team. and that we would be seeking out open doors and knocking on those that are closed, pray that eyes would be opened. pray for the people we have met and trust that God is working in them through us.

John 10:10

this past week we have been volunteering at the OLYMPICS!
[Whistler Sliding Centre team]
thank God for this amazing oppertunity. wow!
this past week has been crazy, but im loving it and God is working in SO many ways. we went to the dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony on wednesday night in BC place! there was so many people there and the subway was packed.
[opening ceremonies-photo credit to Jade!]
on thursday we got settled into the church we're staying at- Squamish Baptist. it is about an hour and 15 minutes by bus from the Whistler Sliding Centre where i am positioned. we had friday off so we went exploring around Squamish and had the chance to go up to Shannon falls, it was beautiful! all the mountains here are just lovely! also there is the Chief which is a huge granite(maybe?) rock which is a good hike to the top- 2.5km with 550elevation! i hope to be able to get up it sometime before we leave. a group who had the day off went up today!
... the first day at the sliding centre was on saturday! the competition was mens single luge. it was quite exciting! each morning we sign in and have a brief session with all the volunteers for our venue- event services. we all get a number which pertains to a certain area, such as the entry, arrival, finish, start, and compound. my first two shifts were in the finishing position so i was a spectator marshal- i directed people where there seats were and answered questions. since then i have been in the compound greeting people and i have been a course marshal (got to have control of a radio!), as well as on the arrival team directing people off the buses. i have had so many conversations and God has been really challenging me to go out of my comfort zone. i have learned to look at people with new eyes and just love them as part of God's creation!! being here, i have realized just how much i love everyone here at kaleo and each person i meet, i am intrigued just to talk with them! some shifts there isnt much time to talk with people since they are in a hurry to get to the event but i have had a bunch of conversations just getting to know people and hearing there story and tell them mine! they are so interested in what i believe and what kaleo is all about! i love telling them and meeting new people, i continue to pray for them and that God is working in their life! this is such an incredible oppertunity and i spend time thanking God each day for what he is doing hear at the Olympics. there is also so many stories and a lot happening with our team and the people they interact with at the Olympic Park!
this is just a brief update! ive been so tired with an average of ten hour shifts but
i thank you all for your prayers!! and please continue to pray for all the conversations we have with people we meet and that God's love would just shine through us as his ambassadors! please pray for those of us who are getting tired and that we would not lose focus of our mission here. also for the olympic park team as well as our team in Mexico!

miss and love you all! <3

Hebrews 4:12

heey everyone!
this past week we had intro to theology with Jim Paulson!
Some of the topics we touched on included God's revelation, the doing of theology, the nature of God, the work of God, sin, and humanity. There was a large discussion on the viewpoints of Arminianism and Calvinism... there was many debatable topics. Throughout the week we also had chapels, gym night, as well as worship night which added to the excitement!
This weekend we also had a 48 hour prayer week dedicated to our upcoming ministry trips- one group is going to the Olympics and the other is going to Copper Canyon in Mexico.
I am part of the olympics crew and will be situated at the Whistler Sliding Centre.

We are leaving this Wednesday! We will be there until the 28th. Please pray for our team daily and the people that we will be interacting with!
This Sunday at church I helped out with the younger ages and we learned about Daniel and the lions den. as mentioned last week, we made a prayer team sign up and it was overwhelming to see all the support we received!! what a united church. i am so greatful for this adopted church and to be able to serve them.

i hope you all had a wonderful week :)
and let me know if you have any prayer requests!
loveee always ♥

PR: please pray for the olympics!

our church is held in Duncan Christian Secondary School.

heey everyone.
this past week has flown by! we had class on tuesday and thursday- camp ministry with Jim Badke!
i enjoyed learning more about camp and am considering applying to be a counsellor at Camp Qwanoes for July and August.
we had chapel every other day of the week, as well as an olympic meeting on friday in which we prayed for our team and the people we will be in contact with. please continue to pray for the olympics and the lives that we will reach there.
we had a cowichan valley youth worship event friday night here at Qwanoes where many youth groups came. Justin spoke about going into the world and being a light to others. please pray for all the youth that were there and that they received what Justin had to say and can apply it to their lives.
today was exciting at church! Trent and i spoke to the congregation about volunteering at the olympics and printed out a sign-up sheet for those who wanted to receive a weekly update of what we are doing there from february 10th-28th and prayer requests. there was an overwhelming amount of support and if you would like to receive updates just let me know and i can add you to the email list! it would be very much appreciated if you could pray for our team daily while we are there. also please pray for the other team going to mexico at the same time we are at the olympics.
sunday school went well- i enjoyed helping out with the younger age group and helping with the craft!
after church we went to the shipyard for lunch with Aurora, Matt, Pam, Logan, Justin, Kalvin, Peter. we later went for a hike that was supposed to be 20minutes long to look for a cave but it ended up being about a 2hour adventure. it was nice getting to know these people better. it was a nice day out- praise God for His creation!
this evening i went to the Bridge at Cobble Hill baptist church which is a young adults service. i enjoyed the worship and service.
this upcoming week we are having out theology course.
hope you are all doing well and if you have any prayer requests please let me know!

MOUNT WASHINGTON!

this past week was amazing! [happy birthdays- em, j, mom :)]
monday morning the power went out and we had to get ready to leave at 5;45am!
we had the option of going skiing or snowboarding! i chose to go skiing and it was soo fun :) we did that for monday, tuesday, thursday, friday! and then on wednesday, we had the option of going cross country skiing or snow shoeing and i went cross country! it was so fun and i learned how to do the skating style of skiing. chapel and worship times each night were so powerful and it was amazing to connect more and grow deeper with our community! I learned so much this past week and loved every second of it!
today i taught sunday school!!! to ages 7-11 and it was so fun :) we learned about God's promises and how God promises to save Noah from the flood.
we also had a paper to do for our missions class about a book that we read called Kingdom Come by Allen Wakabayashi. I thought it was an excellent book. The main point throughout it was that there is a lack of global and personal transformation put on the kingdom of God... i recommend you read it, very insightful!
hope you're all having a wonderful week and thanks again for reading!!
loveee.

PR: pray for the ministry of snowboarders for Christ!

1 John 4:18

heey everyone.
hope you all had a good weekend :)
This past week we started a class called camp ministry which i really enjoy. i am learning about camp and how it relates to God and the kingdom. i am possibly thinking of working at a camp in the summer as well... just a thought though!
we read a book for this class called 'a tale of three kings' by Gene Edwards- good read! it was a study in brokenness and told the story of the kings David, Saul, and Absalom. there were a lot of new insights for me after reading this book and would recommend it to anyone. we are also reading a book for our missions class called 'kingdom come' by allen wakabayashi. also for our missions class, we are keeping a prayer journal for a month of praying for different nations.
we also had our theology of missions exam on wednesday and i think that went well.
this next week we are going to mount washington for a ski/snowboard trip! the main focus of this trip is to reflect on what God has done in us and through us over the past four months and to consider what he has in mind for us for the next four months and beyond. please pray that everyone will stay safe!
next sunday i am teaching sunday school for ages 7-11 yrs old so i will be preparing the lesson plan for that!
praying for you and that you would be blessed this week!
thanks for reading.
loveee always. <3

PR: please pray for different nations and missionaries around the world! and continue to pray for Haiti.

invade my heart, invade this broken town...

heeeeeeey.
wow.
almost a month has gone by since i last blogged!
being home for Christmas was wonderful. loved seeing all my family and church family! :) miss you all already!
this past week we had class! - theology of mission with Tim Stabell who is a missionary in the Congo. please keep his family in your prayers! i really enjoyed this class and learned so much about the kingdom of God and living out His mission!
This past weekend we went to Missions Fest in Vancouver. There were many sessions and seminars as well as a film festival. I heard Will Graham speak about his grandfather Billy. I watched two films, one about child soldiers in Uganda and one about Rwanda and how hope is being restored there since the genocide. I've always had a heart for Africa and hope to serve overseas and help the poor and oppressed; bring them the hope that we have in Jesus Christ our Saviour!! On Saturday night, there was a youth rally and the International Justice Mission spoke; there is more people in slavery TODAY than ever before. "Death of millions is a statistic, death of one is a tragedy." Who will rise up?! What are you going to do about it?
'... learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.' Isaiah 1:17

On the way back to camp we drove through the poorest postal code area in Canada. There was several homeless people and many are being driven out because of the upcoming Olympics. Please pray for the homeless as well as the Olympics as we will be volunteering there!!
Over the Christmas holiday, a few people from our team that went to Panama(the Rain Makers)went to Mexico and served the people there by building houses. Please pray for the lives they touched there and the possibility of another missions trip with a similar team to Haiti or Ecuador!

this week we are starting another class which is Camp Ministry with Jim Badke!
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and if you have any prayer requests just let me know!
love always <3
